Our Origins

Belinda Brummer, Founder

I still remember the day when I sat in a university lecture about organisational management over a decade ago. I was stunned (and not in a good way) by the professor’s views of management - its value and mechanisms, and how organisations should be structured to protect employees from managers. 

My experience of managers, however, led me to a different conclusion and a different world of possibility. My experience revealed that managers, line managers in particular, had the single greatest impact on how their team members experienced the workplace, and performed. For good people to perform in an organisation to their full potential, they need an engaged, competent and confident manager to enable them.

My vision, brought to life through Boost Learning, is to create a space for people who manage and lead people to focus on their management capability and confidence. By focusing on their strengths, to turn their doubts, insecurities, misplaced confidence, mistakes and competence gaps into opportunities. A space where they can explore these and make the tweaks and leaps that allow them to thrive.
